Oktoberfest Augustiner Festzelt tent is the oldest and most friendliest Munich’s beer tent, and Augustiner is the oldest of Munich’s breweries. It’s the only beer tent at Oktoberfest that serves their beer in a traditional way i mean in wooden kegs and also they bring their beer in old wooden barrels.
As I said earlier It’s known as the “friendliest” tent at Oktoberfest so prepare to make a lot of new friends here. The Augustiner Festzelt is the most family-friendly tent at Oktoberfest. It hosts “Kids Day” on both Tuesdays of the festival, with reduced prices on food and drinks for their young visitors. (Man, we’re on a roll here!)
The Augustiner brewery was started in 1328 by Augustinian monks who brewed beer in their monastery in central Munich. For almost 500 years, they sold their beer in the monastery tavern. Today, it’s served to 8,000 people at a time in a huge Oktoberfest beer tent. The “JW” in the Augustiner logo stands for Joseph Wagner, a former manager and a founder of the Bavarian Beer Alliance.
In this tent the German engineering at its finest. An interesting fact is that the wooden beer kegs are stored in the tall tower that’s part of the tent. A special mechanism inside the tower lowers the full kegs and lifts the empty ones to the top throughout the day.
The Augustiner beer tent is well known as the “friendliest” of all beer tents, its staff is so good they never stop smiling. With room for around 8500 people, the Augustiner tent is one of the biggest. They serve, Augustiner beer, obviously, and a large menu of Bavarian food.
